Peter Welch
   

Peter Welch | Managing Partner and President

Peter has over a decade of experience in public affairs in health care, education, and non-profit management. His expertise includes lobbying, strategic planning, organizational growth, non-dues revenue, and partnership development. At The Welch Group, Peter lobbies for a number of healthcare, renewable energy, and nonprofit clients, while overseeing business operations, business development, and association management operations. Before joining the family firm, he most recently served as COO at the state Medical Society, overseeing all aspects of advocacy, membership, and communications. Peter holds a BA from Lawrence University, and a MA from Arizona State University.

Jim Steineke
   

Jim Steineke | Partner & Head of Advocacy

A native of the Milwaukee area, Jim now calls the Fox Valley home since moving there in 1991. He was a Realtor by profession, and served in the State Legislature for nearly 12 years. Jim was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2010, rising to leadership in just his second term. He spent the last 4 terms of his tenure in the legislature as the Majority Leader, which allowed him the opportunity to build critical relationships in both houses and with leaders across the country. In the legislature Jim worked on a wide variety of issues while also assisting members with their own. Jim’s background in business combined with his relationships in the legislature is an invaluable asset to The Welch Group and our clients.

Jordan Lamb
   

Jordan Lamb | Principal

Jordan Lamb has over two decades of experience representing a diverse set of clients before the Wisconsin state legislature and state agencies. A Madison native, Jordan graduated from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin law school. She spent twenty years in private law practice serving government relations clients and developed a strong legal background in environmental and administrative law. Jordan is highly skilled at legislative planning and legislative analysis. She is a strong communicator both in writing and public speaking. Her legal background is an asset to our clients as they navigate complex state regulations.

Stamena Mesec | Director of Government Affairs

Stamena joined The Welch Group in 2024, bringing eight years of experience in the State Capitol, where she served as an aide and policy advisor in both the State Assembly and the State Senate. She has a seasoned understanding of the state budget process from her time as a Joint Committee on Finance advisor, and has clerked committees on Small Business, Insurance, and Forestry, amongst others.

As Director of Government Affairs at TWG, Stamena leverages her deep understanding of the legislative process and her expertise in navigating the Capitol to help clients achieve their policy goals and establish themselves as trusted partners to Wisconsin policymakers.

Drawing on her extensive experience steering policy ideas from conception to implementation, she successfully drives initiatives for a range of sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, energy, and economic development.

Samantha Johnson | Communications and Public Affairs Manager

Samantha has a B.A. in Political Science and Psychology from Concordia University Wisconsin. After working for the Senate Majority Leader in the Wisconsin State Capitol she has returned as the Project Manager for the Government Affairs arm of TWG. Her role includes policy tracking, research and analysis, legislative communications and engagement, coordination of capitol days, management of PAC/Conduit operations, and support for TWG's rapidly growing lobbying services. Previously, she worked at TWG as an Associate Lobbyist for a variety of clients during the 2021-22 legislative session and joined the team as an Associate in 2019.

Emily Schroeder | Events and Member Engagement Coordinator

Emily joined The Welch Group after working as both a Camp Education and Events Manager and a wedding planner. She brings high energy and creativity to our events. She fills various roles within The Welch Group including event planning and detailing, registration tracking, special events photography, and budget and records management for events.

Katie Carroll | Office and Finance Administrator

Katie brings a wealth of organizational skills, customer service and expert data analysis to The Welch Group team. She tracks our projects, ensures we meet deadlines and helps us provide excellent service to each client. She joined The Welch Group in 2022, and brings more than 20 years experience in customer service, communications and organizational management within several industries including utilities, healthcare and hospitality.

Jonas Hackett
   

Jonas Hackett | Director of Technical Operations

Jonas is a graduate of Lawrence University and a native of central Wisconsin. He has extensive work experience in the areas of management and logistics, as well as working with non-profits. Jonas serves as Director of Technical Operations with the Welch Group concentrating on Legislation, Communications, Media, and IT. He is a talented writer, graphic artist, and web designer.

Bob Welch | Founder and Senior Advisor

A graduate of MATC and Ripon College, Bob is a land-surveyor by profession, and served in the State Legislature for twenty years. Bob was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1984, quickly rising to leadership positions. After ten years of service, Bob was elected to the State Senate in 1995, and served until 2004. The eventual sale of the surveying business allowed Bob and Jeanne to expand and diversify the services of The Welch Group. An active member of national political organizations, Bob has expertise in both national and international policy and business.

An alumnus of UW-Madison, Jeanne was business manager and logistical coordinator of the surveying business for 14 years. She has over twenty years experience as an organizational coordinator with an emphasis on performance, fundraising, and public relations. Jeanne also has extensive experience in writing, coordinating and administering grants.
